Historic Richardson Grove Visitor Center

The historic gateway to the redwoods, Richardson Grove State Park boasts a small but mighty grove of ancient giants — the first you’ll pass on your way north along Highway 101 — and is a popular stop for hiking and picnicking on your Southern Humboldt adventure.

Make sure to check out the visitor center and nature store located inside the historic 1930s Richardson Grove Lodge. Once a roadside stop for movies, ice cream and dancing under the towering tree, the lodge now offers interpretive displays that encourage children to handle selected natural items. The Grove Nature Trail begins at the visitor center.

Open May - September.
