Shelter Cove Beach

Shelter Cove’s namesake beach is best known for its role as the Shelter Cove Boat Launching Facility. Protected from the west by Point Delgada and a rock jetty near the boat ramp, Shelter Cove Beach is a popular place for families to play while watching boats launch and return by tractor service; in fact, Shelter Cove features the only open-ocean boat launch in California.

At low tide surfers sometimes walk or drive their trucks farther down the beach to the surf-exposed shoreline at Dead Man’s Beach. Shelter Cove RV Campground & Deli is just above the cove and offers a small store and food.
